had a girls night in the middle of the week last night. felt like a total rebel! i'm serious.
this is so crazy; but i was so very excited about my evening.
i don't get out much by myself anymore. it's weird. i didn't anticipate that part of being a mom. i seriously didn't connect the dots very well that yes you can take babies almost anywhere with you; but you can't just up and leave them if you want a few moments of girl time. it's strange.
so last night i met up with Karen at Barnes and Noble to celebrate my birthday earlier this wee...bought a book on babies...(of course) and then headed over to see a girlie movie. First of all, i need to address the fact that karen and i have few quirky things unique to our friendship. we have the uncanny ability to talk in circles, over each other, back and forth, and about six different subjects at one time. it's pretty fun for us. second we can laugh uncontrollably about things that are only semi funny; but once one of starts laughing it doesn't end.
karen had graciously decided to pay for my ticket and we had decided we were going to get the really really big bucket of popcorn. yes, the one they always ask you if you want for a quarter more? which is so dumb b/c it's really huge; but you really never eat it all. well, i put way too much salt on it b/c the salt shaker was missing...but back to the start of our evening.
karen buys the tickets. we walk into the theater. she says. man, i didn't get my student discount! i laughed because we are finally looking like we aren't in college. then she says "it's probably because you wore your fancy coat". okay, i almost peed my pants. she was serious. and we realized it was true. i had my long black trench coat style BR coat on. (hey, i don't get out much anymore) and i wear a lot of black these days to make the baby leftover fat look smaller. i don't know if it translates into a funny comment in writing. but it was hysterical. her face is all contorted. she hugging her warm puffy "casual" college like coat in her arms. trying to contemplate why she doesn't look like a college kid anymore! cracked me up.
